TARAE: The Unbound PvP — is there any?

·2 min read

PvP is not planned

The developers have said there are no plans for player-versus-player, and gave a reason: balancing it against the rest of the game is work they do not intend to take on. That is the clearest statement anybody has made about it.

Then why does the store page have a PvP tag?

Because a store tag is not a feature list. Tags on a storefront are a discovery mechanism — they describe what a game sits near, they are frequently inherited from a genre, and they commit nobody to anything. The listing for this game also carries tags for co-op and for loot, which are real, and one for PvP, which the developers have addressed directly and negatively.

Where a tag and a developer disagree, the developer is the better source, and this page follows the developer.

What you may have read elsewhere

Descriptions of duels and of raid formats circulate on secondary listings that aggregate game data rather than report it. Nothing the developers have said supports any of it, and no first-hand account of anybody seeing a PvP mode exists.

What would change this page

A statement from the developers reversing it, or a build in which such a mode exists. A tag changing on a storefront would not, and neither would one aggregator repeating another.

Frequently asked

Is there PvP?
No. The developers have said it is not planned, and gave balancing as the reason. Verified
The store page lists PvP — is that wrong?
A store tag is a discovery label, not a feature list, and it commits nobody to anything. Where it disagrees with the developers, the developers are the better source. Verified
I read that there are 1v1 duels and raids.
That appears on aggregator listings and in nothing anybody saw first-hand. It contradicts what the developers have said, and this site does not carry it as a fact. Rumour
