TARAE: The Unbound trading between players

·2 min read

Trading exists

Player-to-player trading has been confirmed by the developers. That is the whole of what has been said about it: that it exists.

On a page about an ARPG that sentence looks incomplete, because in this genre "trading exists" is normally the beginning of a long answer about currencies, auction houses, bind rules and market economies. None of that has been described here, by anybody, once.

Loot is locked to your class during the campaign, and the endgame adds a toggle between your own class and any class. That is about your own characters rather than about other players, but it is the only published detail that touches on items moving at all, and it sits naturally alongside trading being confirmed.

What has not been said

  • Whether trading is direct between two players, or goes through a marketplace of some kind.
  • Whether there is a currency, and what it is.
  • Whether any items are bound and cannot be traded.
  • Whether trading is restricted to the endgame, as co-op is.
  • Whether seasons reset an economy, and what happens to traded items when one ends.
  • Item rarity, affixes and crafting are unknown for this game in general, and all three decide what a trade economy actually looks like. Until those exist, nothing useful can be said about this one.
